First-time waxing appointments require 2-3 weeks of hair growth for optimal wax results.
• Using or has used Isotretinoin (Accutane) in the last 6 months.
• Taking blood-thinning medications.
• Undergoing chemotherapy or radiation.
• Taking medication for autoimmune diseases (including lupus).
• Taking or recently taken prednisone or steroids.
• Has psoriasis, eczema, or other chronic skin diseases.
• Has sunburn.
• Has pustules, papules, or other skin lesions in the area to be waxed.
• Recently had cosmetic or reconstructive surgery with the previous 3 months.
• Recently had a laser skin treatment on the body.
• Severe varicose leg veins.
• Has hemophilia, bleeding disorders, or circulatory conditions.
• Any other questionable medical condition.
For 24 Hours after a waxing treatment DO NOT:
• Bathe – you can shower but try not to do this as late as you can in the day. When showering let the water fall off the waxed area and do not wash the area.
• Sunbathe or use Sunbeds.
• Apply products to the waxed area, such as deodorant, perfume products, make up or moisturizer.
• DO NOT TOUCH WAXED AREA.
• Avoid tight fitting clothes (tight fitting clothing can cause friction to the waxed area. Tights, G Strings and/or Skinny Jeans for example are not advisable).
• DO NOT EXFOLIATE AREA.
• The waxed area may be red.
• Blood spots – this is usually if the hair is very strong and coarse on bikini and underarm.
• The area may feel tender.
1) Avoid ingrowing hairs by exfoliating. Aim to exfoliate 2-3 times a week -DO NOT OVER EXFOLIATE AS THIS CAN BE DAMAGING TO THE SKIN.
2) To soothe the skin, you can use calamine lotion or aloe vera gel to the waxed area.
3) Maintain waxing appointments every 3-4 weeks.
